Welcome Spring
Oh my. The further I fall behind the more difficult it seems to catch up. I cheat by at least adding photos. What are we up to...
Max is 2 and a half now and is full of fun. He likes singing songs in the car, playing golf in the backyard, reading a million books at bed time, his Saturday morning adventures with Daddy, spinning tops at daycare with Ayden, watching Backyardigans on Daddy’s iPhone, and playing with his pirate ship toy. He’s adjusting well to being a big brother but does have his moments. When Mya gets a little too close for comfort, he’s likely to push her away with a palm of foot. This doesn’t go over well with anyone and he is well familiar with the time out routine. In general he’s very well behaved and it’s a joy beyond words to see him grow and learn about the world. Our goofy morning/evening commute conversations are often the highlight of my day. It warms my heart to think of his hysterical laughter when I jump in “surprise” at the intermittent wipers that swing across the windshield without Mommy touching any buttons. He’s a fun boy!
Mya is 11 months old now and is quickly changing from my cuddly baby to my determined toddler. I look at pictures of her and it shocks me at how much she’s changing. I see her face developing and more of her unique characteristics coming out versus the baby look. She finally got her first tooth in a few weeks ago. She stood for the first time that same day and has been doing so compulsively since then. She will likely take her first steps before her first birthday although I think it will be a few months before she’s charging around the house on 2 feet. Or is that wishful thinking? Mya like swim class, giggling at Max’s antics, climbing stairs, raspberries on her belly and bobbing her head to music. People frequently comment on her blue eyes and her sweet, happy disposition. We love our sweet girl!
Alex has been hard at work in a temporary position in Finance. It’s sucking up his hours but is a fun/frustrating (depends on the day) new challenge for him. It remains to be seen whether this role is something that he has a long-term interest in. Spring is springing so golf and potentially softball are in the future. Other than that he spends the rest of his time as Daddy and husband, doing a great job at both.
The big change at home is the addition of insulation and windows. Who knew that houses built during the 20’s didn’t have insulation added to the exterior walls? I certainly didn’t until a few years ago. Hopefully this change will keep us cool this summer and warm next winter. You know you lead an exciting life when you get excited at the thought of new windows.
I’m looking forward to the arrival of nicer weather and the adventures that the sunshine and longer daylight hours will bring. Happy Spring!
